Roy R. "Robin" Lewis, III, is an internationally known expert on the management and
restoration of coastal and freshwater wetlands. Mr. Lewis was the principal scientist to
design and permit the first federally permitted entrepreneurial wetland bank in the
United States - the 350 acre Florida Wetlands bank, and has conducted the restoration
analysis and mitigation negotiations for over 200 projects across the United States and
internationally during the past 20 years. He has extensive experience in large scale
projects such as the Bolsa Chica mitigation plan and agency negotiations, the Pacific
Gas and Electric nuclear power plant saltmarsh restoration, and he crafted the historic
Cargill Salt sale of disused salt ponds to federal agencies.
Having represented academic, private and public interests during the course of his employment, "Robin" brings a unique perspective to the planning and implementation of any project - the ability to visualise the project from the viewpoint of each involved stakeholder. Mr. Lewis has received numerous awards - Honourable Mention - 1994 National Wetlands Awards (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Environmental Law Institute), an Ecological Society of America Corporate Award, an Award of Recognition for Natural Environment, and Florida Audubon Society Corporate Awards for Habitat Restoration. As a member of numerous professional scientific organizations, Mr. Lewis has authored more than 70 papers, is an invited speaker on mitigation banking and habitat restoration, is an instructor for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers habitat conservation workshop program, lectures on the use of mitigation banking, and serves as a delegate to several national and international scientific initiatives. |
