Richard Pagett, Ph.D. Environmental Management and Training

Dr Pagett is a Chartered Biologist, a Chartered Water & Environmental .Manager and a registered impact assessor and auditor. He is very experienced in the environmental management of development and industrial projects with particular expertise in environmental impact assessment, audit, pollution control and management, and coastal zone management. He has undertaken projects in a variety of situations, from inland, urban, rural, estuarine, coastal, continental shelf to the deep ocean. Through long industrial experience he has become familiar with technical and business operations in the following sectors: oil and gas, chemical, power, waste, water, construction, transportation, leisure, urban development, tourism, agriculture, mariculture, investment and aid funding.

Dr Pagett has significant international experience having worked on projects for; Caribbean Development Bank, EBRD, EU TACIS, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, and the UK Department for International Development (formerly, ODA). As a result he has professional experience of; Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Barbados, Botswana, China, Cyprus (North and South), Czech Republic, Dominica, Egypt, France, Finland, FYR Macedonia, Germany, Hungary, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazachstan, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Montserrat, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Russia (Arctic, European, Siberia), Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, Turks & Caicos and the United States.

Through his leadership, communication and team-building skills, mentoring of line managers; experience in staff recruitment, appraisal and career development; and his equal facility in technical and commercial management, he has developed a strong portfolio in project management. He has a serious capability in implementing environmental management programmes (EMAS/ISO 14001) and is a Scope Expert to a UK ISO 9000 and 14001 Certification Body. He has developed and delivered dozens of training events, worldwide. His projects are diverse and include:

* Environmental impact assessments of fish farming, exploration drilling, municipal and industrial wastewater disposal schemes, land reclamation, tidal power generation, airports and their operations, marinas, harbours, roads, high speed rail link, combined heat and power station, non-power generating barrages, mineral workings, water storage and agricultural development schemes, cement works, clothing manufacturing facilities, and seismic drilling

* Coastal zone management studies in Barbados, Dominica, Egypt, Jamaica, Mauritius, Montserrat, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, and Turks & Caicos

* Environmental management systems/auditing/due diligence of port facilities, offshore oil and gas installations and support services, and crane manufacturing facilities

* Extensive institutional strengthening projects in Azerbaijan, Botswana, Cyprus (North and South), Czech Republic, Dominica, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Montserrat, Philippines, Russia, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, and Turks & Caicos

* Various other technical studies such as operational modelling of flue gas desulphurisation process in coal-fired power stations, investigation and remediation of former paint works, development of environmental legislation/standards, and emergency oil spill recovery and mitigation

* Business development support activities for UK/US consultancies in Azerbaijan, China, Egypt, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, South Korea,Taiwan, and Turkey
